Over 300 Galesburg CUSD #205 students have received a brand new pair of tennis shoes and socks, free of cost, thanks to the Jack Larson legacy.
The timing of the shoe project is critical to the success of the program. Shortly after the start of the school year, CUSD #205 outreach workers began working with students to determine the needs and the shoe sizes of students at Galesburg Junior High School, Lombard Middle School, King Elementary, Silas Willard Elementary, and Steele Elementary. After all the sizes were identified, volunteers ordered the shoes to have them ready for delivery to each school.
Delivery day was December 1st at Galesburg Junior High School and Lombard Middle School. The elementary schools followed beginning on December 5th. Countless volunteers welcomed students to the designated area at each school to start trying on the shoes to find the perfect fit.
Thanks to the Jack Larson Project, the students of CUSD #205 in need, now have a brand new pair of shoes to start off the winter season.
