GREAT NEWS! We are still accepting applications for the 2025–2026 Begindergarten Program!
Begindergarten is a full-day program designed to give young learners an additional year to grow academically, emotionally, and socially before starting kindergarten.
This program may be a great fit if your child:
- Will be a young 5-year-old when entering kindergarten
(birthday between March 1 and September 1)
- Is not quite ready for a traditional kindergarten setting
- Has difficulty separating from caregivers or is slow to join peer groups
- Shows delays in emotional regulation or responses
- Has not previously attended preschool
Program Details:
- Location: Silas Willard Elementary School
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
- Class Size: Limited to 20 students
Selection Criteria: Acceptance is based on a weighted eligibility process, including:
- A parent interview
- An early learning inventory
- A social-emotional screener

Thank you to the Galesburg High School Wrestling team for visiting for "Wildcat Wednesday" this week! We enjoyed learning about the hard work and responsibility it takes to be on the team. #silaswildcats
We will have our Silas Field Day on Friday May 23rd. Our K-2 students will go outside in the morning, and our 3-4 students will go out in the afternoon.
The last day of school for Silas Willard will remain Tuesday May 27th with a 2:45 p.m. dismissal.
We will follow the same lunch schedule for the rest of this week. Breakfast will move forward one day. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, Tuesday May 20th. Field Day is being moved to Friday May 23rd pending volunteer availability.
Due to a local power outage, SILAS WILLARD will be closed Monday, 5/19/25.
We will have Field Day as scheduled on Monday May 19th. Please dress your child appropriately for the weather. We are looking forward to a fun day!

Today for Wildcat Wednesday we had a representative from OSF Children's Hospital. She shared the top 5 healthy habits for kids. These will be in student folders this week for you to go over with your child! Daily children need 5 fruits and vegetables, 4 glasses of water, 3 good laughs, 2 hours or less screen time, and 1 hour of physical activity. Also 8 or more hours of sleep! #silaswildcats
