The Galesburg Area Vocational Center (GAVC) hosted its annual Health Careers Showcase on, Thursday, March 5, 2026, providing a critical platform for students to explore the vast landscape of the healthcare industry. The event, which ran from 8:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m., targeted students in grades 7-12, reinforcing the message that it is never too early to begin planning for life after graduation.
The showcase was designed to bridge the gap between education and the professional world, featuring representatives from regional healthcare organizations to local ambulance and fire departments.
In addition to Galesburg students, the event drew participants from several area schools, including:
United High School
Abingdon-Avon High School
Monmouth-Roseville High School
Williamsfield High School
Knoxville High School

State Representative Dan Swanson attended the event to show his support for Career and Technical Education (CTE) and the development of the local healthcare workforce.
