The CUSD #205 Board of Education hired John Hinton IV to serve as the new assistant principal at Galesburg Junior-Senior High School at the June 9th meeting.
Mr. Hinton earned his Bachelor's degree in Education from Illinois State and later completed his Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Western Illinois University.
He began his teaching career in 1999 and over the years has worked with a wide range of students and grade levels. His journey in education includes teaching junior high social studies for five years at Lombard Middle School. While at Lombard, John helped students connect with history, government, and civic life in meaningful ways.
According to Mr. Hinton, "I believe strongly in lifelong learning and consistently seeking opportunities for professional growth and collaboration with staff, students, and families."
Throughout his career, he has also had the privilege of coaching football and wrestling at multiple levels. Mr. Hinton states, "These experiences have allowed me to support student-athletes in developing character, discipline, and a strong work ethic on and off the field. Coaching has deeply shaped my leadership style, which is grounded in communication, consistency, and connection."
Outside of the school environment, Mr. Hinton is a dedicated family man. "I share my life with my amazing wife, Shana, and we are proud parents of two children and grandparents to two wonderful grandchildren." Shana will also be joining the staff at GJSHS, where she will teach 7th-grade English. "Whether we're spending time together at family gatherings, attending school and sporting events, or just enjoying each other's company, family is at the heart of everything I do. When I am not at school, you can find me enjoying time with my family, watching sports, and spending time with friends. I value staying connected to the people and community that make life meaningful."
