Professional Experience, Achievements, and Goals
Mr. Nick Young is a Galesburg-area native who will be leading the teachers and students at Lombard Middle School beginning this year. Mr. Young earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Knox College with a double major in both Educational Studies and Environmental Studies. More recently, Mr. Young completed his Masters Degree in Educational Administration at St. Ambrose University in the Quad Cities.

Mr. Young is committed to helping middle grades students in Galesburg learn and grow. Mr. Young taught Science for four years at Churchill Junior High School before becoming Dean of Students there. In 2014, Mr. Young moved to Lombard as Assistant Principal.

Mr. Young strives to provide students, staff, and community with a safe environment at LMS. He looks forward to continuing to align curriculum, both horizontally and vertically, while facilitating the introduction of more Reading and Writing across curricular areas into the school day. His goal is to working together with educators across the District to raise student achievement and show long-term student growth.

A self-described “kid-at-heart,” Mr. Young truly enjoys his work with students. In his position as Principal, he can interact and work with many children and families from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Being an administrator allows him both the opportunity and the pleasure of teaming with his amazing staff and colleagues to impact students in a positive way.

Mr. Young is proud to have worked at Lombard the past 4 years and being part of a positive shift in culture and climate. He recognizes that his excellent staff goes above and beyond for kids, shown throughout his time at Lombard.

Personal Information
While he does enjoy both golfing and hunting, Nick’s favorite activity is time spent with friends and his family, including his wife, Sara; his children, Mackenzie, Hayden, and Alyssa; and of course the family’s dog, Murphy.
